Pimsleur's Croatian Compact
Excellent pronunciation of the language in pronunciation booklet, and good review of conversations on discs for all 10 lessons. However,a booklet of new words in Croatian with English translation used in each lesson needs to accompany each spoken lesson dialogue.

Good but no cure all
A word of note on the Pimsleur technique.Essentially it comprises three speakers; a narrator, a male speaker, and a female speaker. The course is split into 10 half-hour lessons.And, if the recommended timeframe, of one class per day, is adhered to, should take you 10 days to complete.You will no doubt review the lessons at least once, and therefore the commitment each day will generally be a solid hour of listening.
A taste is all you get
I have to give Pimsleur Croatian program five stars for the excellence of the product, but as good as the course is it may not be for you. The Pimsleur method is the only self-taught system I have ever used that actually works.The method of verbalizing, constant review and slowly working in new words and grammatical uses is effective and enjoyable.The pronuciation lessons are so good that my Croatian friends were amazed, although they quibbled that I was learning a Slavonian accent instead of a Zagreb accent. Within this excellence lies a major problem with this one-volume set.It is not nearly enough.The Pimsleur method, as is any really effective method, is time consuming.The ten half-hour lessons only add up to five hours of instruction.Repeat every lesson and still you only have ten hours.This barely scratches the surface.At the end of this course you will really only know a few words and phrases, not nearly enough to even communicate on a survival level.If you are looking for a course so as to learn enough Hrvatski (Croatian) to communicate basic travel needs, it's not here.If you are looking for a course that gives you a solid understanding of some basic Croatian words and grammar as well as excellent, contemporary pronunciation, then this is the place to start.But I guarantee you will be left wanting more.Read more

I Read a Lot of Relationship Books, and this is a Top 5-er
I absolutely recommend this book. It has helped so much. The philosophy that you can change the dynamic of your relationship only by changing your behavior which will thereby change your partners responses, is the best way to go. Take responsibility that something in your behavior is affecting the relationship. Yes, of course something in your partners behavior is affecting it, too. But most people don't take responsibility for their end. It's easier to see other people's flaws than our own. That's where the genius of this book comes in. Once you are willing to take responsibility, RELATIONSHIP RESCUE gives you the tools to evaluate, become aware, and exchange your unconstructive behavior for constructive.
It can do what it says if you let it....
Dr. Phil's self-congratulatultory writing style aside, the actual nuts and bolts of this book are exceptionally insightful and helpful.It will force you into a phase of honest appraisal of you and your partner.It's not a "quick fix", nor should it be.It requires that you actually read it and do the exercises within to find it's reward.But personally, I think it may very well be one of the best self-help type of books out there. I also purchased the accompanying"Workbook" but think you can buy yourself a ruled notebook to the same effect.

Every couple should read this book
I bought this book after being dumped. Not with the idea of getting back together with my ex, but to really understand what went wrong, or more accurately what I did wrong. This book helped me. Not only his myths about relationships helped me to understand what real relationships are about. But also the different attitudes we ( men and women) can have or behave that destroys a good relationship. I could find myself in several ones. And also what positive attitudes you should have in a relationship, is something you should write down and stick on your fridge's door. So a great book even if your single and you wondered what went wrong. I wished I knew these things before my relationship. We all think, I guess, that love is easy and as long that we love one and other things will work out, but they don't. If you don't know what your doing wrong, how can you know how to fix it? Hidden Gems
This is my second attempt to read a Dallas Willard book.This is my first successful completion of a Dallas Willard book!He has a dense, dry reading style that is difficult to plow through.But I could see as I was reading this book that there were spiritual gems to be found throughout, so I plugged away through it.It took me about six months to finish this 400-page book, but I'm glad I made the effort.(Six months because I had to find times where I was in the right alert, diligent state of mind to read it.) Missing the mark
In this book Dallas Willard presents the life of the Christian as a disciple of Jesus. He attempts to mediate between evangelical and liberal perspectives and provide an approach to the Christian life brings out what both perspectives have missed. While containing occasionally nuggets, this book (from my perspective) misses the mark at several points.
Best Book, Bar None, I Have Ever Read
This is a life changing book, not one meant to be a quick read, but rather, one to be read bit by bit, and then mulled over. It brings to life the Sermon on the Mount, explains so very well the kingdom of God and its characteristics.As I read this book, I began to understand God's overall plan for humankind in a new way, and I have begun to live accordingly.

good presentation, good selection of words.
i found these tapes are decently good. they became like my buddies. i enjoy listening to them. most of the words are very useful in day to day life.

This one's fun! Great vocabulary;entertaining stories with good acting; and the best format for reinforcing words I've heard so far. (I just ordered a copy for my niece and nephews.) Find out about the capricious,dilettante mechanic; what Appalachian Clem fears will be proscribed;whether the diamond cutter is venal... What a find! I'm as sanguine as thearcheologist in volume 1. You've bested Princeton Review (Word Smart), Peter Funk of Funkand Wagnall (Word Power), Paul Altman (600 Words You Need to Know) and allthe others I've listened to. Learn to distinguish spoken words
I've searched and searched, read reviews of products after products.I then tried SmartFrench and it was exactly what I needed!Just amazing.
This has really helped me.
First of all, if/when you go to France, the whole experience is completely different if you attempt to speak their language versus if you expect them to speak yours (which they all can!).They really appreciate your attempt to speak the language that they are so proud of and consider an art, and they make every effort to help you to learn more and improve.It really, really opens so many doors to try to speak French. It's the difference between being treated like family versus being practically shunned.So do try to speak it.But the catch is that they hate it if you "bastardize" their language, meaning really rip up the pronunciation badly.It makes them wince.When I went to Lyon a few years ago I made every effort to speak French the whole time and was shocked how incredibly accomodating, sweet, and warm the French were to me, teaching me new words, helping me with my pronunciation, drawing me pictures, everything!Nothing like the rude treatment other Americans told me to expect from the French.One thing I noticed, though, was that while most of the time they could understand what I was saying pretty well, I most often could NOT understand most of what they were saying.This is because they spoke faster than I was used to listening to French and also because the French link their words together.Having being taught from text books and slow-speaking French teachers, I was over my head.I bought the beginner and the intermediate/advanced versions of this CD set because it's been a while since I practiced French and I originally leaned by the textbook method so I wasn't sure which I fit under.(I discovered that I fit under "beginner" in some aspects and under "intermediate/advanced" with other aspects.) Since I have a long drive to work and back every day, I play these and (when I'm awake enough) I do the recitations with him.I have to say that it's helped a lot.Both versions have.And the more times you listen the better you get and the easier it gets to understand.He says on the CD that you shouldn't or don't need to read the translations in the book that come with it, but I found that it helped me to read them before listening or I was distracted by my plausible ideas of what is really going on in the conversations.The content of the conversations is actually pretty interesting too:he interviews people, for example, who have had long diplomatic careers or knew Salvadore Dali as a child (both examples are in the intermediate/advanced version).For the first time since studying a language I've actually learned from the syntax AND the content of the lessons.I found it to be a wise purchase.Both of them.The reason I didn't give it 5 stars was simply because the tips he gives throughout the CDs can be a little repetitive, but then with some things you do need that consistent reminder.

Not so easy
I am studying French language at the local college and based on what other reviewers stated I thought this would be very good.

This is a good book which gives you first hand impression about how laws are design by authority.

Excellent review for our present members of congress and anyone with the interest to put in the time.
This is very interesting about Montesquieu.Every member of congress should read it and take it to heart.It appears that the majority of our founding fathers did read it and take it very seriously.It is something that all Americans who are interested in our government should consider reading.It is amazingly quite easy to read though, I would suggest having a good dictionary handy while reading it.Some of our members of congress I just do not believe would understand, even if someone was reading the dictionary for them.That is a sad commentary about the facts we all must face, however.

Not the great book people seem to think it is.
This is a book that could (should?) have faded into history without being a great loss to the world. Yes, there are a few interesting bits of political philosophy, but they're far and few between, and mainly either just thrown out as Montesquieu's personal opinions with little to no evidence or examination, or flimsily based on historical examples. As a reader, I didn't find most of his arguments (where he didn't seem to be contradicting himself, which happens frequently) very convincing. This was obviously written with the 18th century French salon crowd in mind, and reads as such. I'm sure it provided a lot of aristocrats with conversation fodder to make them appear intelligent and educated at the time, but these days it just seems like an antiquated bit of history.

good book but all lies
i purchased this book several years ago and enjoyed it immensely.and after seeing her on montel williams and hearing her on coast so coast am with art bell, i was completely hooked. what a truly amazing gift she has, right?i even went as far as booking a reading with her.the reading came and went. . . and absolutely nothing she said came true.while the book was a fun read, i learned a rather expensive lesson and will never again waste my money on anything that has to do with sylvia browne.

Love This Book
I read this book when it first came out and then loaned it to someone.I never got it back so decided to purchase it again.After reading it the second time, I was just awestruck by how much this book affected me.I have read most of the life after life books by numerous authors.Some are more believable than others but Sylvia Browne's is one of the most believable yet.It is easy to read and understand and you can actually visualize how things probably appear on the other side.One of my favorite parts is the appendix which lists the categories of Life Plans that we use when scripting our earthly incarnations.It is interesting to see how one specific category will jump out at you giving you a better understanding of why your current life is the way it is and also why other people in your lives make the choices that they do.I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is exploring the afterlife. ... I really liked it !
It was a very good book for someone who needs to build confidence when dealing with people. I enjoyed it and have read many books on meeting people and getting over shyness. If you want to meet women and are shy there is a great book called 'How To 'Pick Up' Beautiful Women' by John Eagan.It has helped me get over my shyness with women. Which is somening you can not put a price on.
A self-improvement classic!
If your career or volunteer activities require you to interact withlots of different types of people and, more specifically, to get them to do what you want them to do, read this book!Lest there be any confusion, Giblin does not suggest that his readers manipulate, badger or cojole people into doing things; rather, he teaches how to change oneself so that people will want to see things your way.H.t.H.C.a.P.i.D.w.P preaches self-improvement, not strong-arming.

About James Dobson
I Lived in Colorado Springs just down the road from focas on the family for several years and the review I read about what James Dobson was saying struck me as funny. This man claims to be a godly and rightgious man hiself yet he is only in this for the money as well. You go into the gift shop at focas on the family and when you go to purchase anything in there on it, it says donation price is.... So that Mr Dobson does not have to pay taxes on it. So Who is the hipocrite here????? I do not know if this book is true or not but I would like to keep an open mind. None of us in this world knows the truth that lies out there the greatest gift we can give to ourselves and others is pure love and I think that is what is trying to be said in this book. There is no wrong or right way there is just faith and the ultimate to except everyone and everything and to obtaine that higher level and to love one another unconditionally......

Finally
I grew up in the church, l was bombarded with the bible and its endless threats of sin and hell. Finally through the Conversations of God books I have discovered a God that loves us all. Would you torture the ones you love for making mistakes? God is love. More love than you could ever understand. I am thankful to have found the truth, Finally! Thank you God.

It worked, not as planned, but worked
I bought this CD for my 9 year old nephew and I have to be honest that he hated it.BUT it still worked, I told him to learn them and we'd quit listening to the CD and he learned at lightening speed just to get away from it.The tunes can be a little folksy but I thought it was a good way to learn and it does stick in your head.

The BEST one!
I bought several Multiplication CD's and this was absolutely the best one.It includes skip counting which really has helped my daughter learn her multiplication facts.Buy this one!

Great for Kids!
My child has a processing disorder which make math extremely difficult.She has always been able to learn song lyrics easily, and this CD was no exception.Kids in 2nd grade can get a great start to 3rd grade math by learning to count by multiples of numbers 2 through 12.I would definitely recommend to all kids, especially those who like music, but not learning basic multiplication. ... Very Explicit, Detailed and Valuable!
Paget's "How to be a great lover" provides a lot of explicit and detailed instructions, and descriptions. She discussed a broad spectrum of topics from sexually transmitted diseases to oral and manual stimulation. My husband and I are experienced and for us most of the information was not something new. We did learn new things however and it was nice to read a book written by so experienced and genuinely interested in sex woman. We would like to recommend as well scientist Ritz' bestseller "Scientfically guaranteed male multiple orgasms and ultimate sex" because it provides breakthrough information, which made a great difference for us in bed.

worth reading
I just bought this book a few days ago after reading the positive reviews.It was definitely worth reading!The best part about the book is the tone she uses.It really does come across as girlfriend-to-girlfriend.It's not clinical (which is a turn-off) or condescending in tone - she doesn't act like a sex guru speaking down to the plebian undersexed.She's very encouraging and her main goal is to give you confidence as a lover.

This book was extremely helpful.
This book gives parents effective tools for dealing with common "attitude" problems with children.It gives LOTS of examples and is effective with both young and older children.I highly recommend it.

Great Communication Guide
As a chaplain in the USAF I have used this book and given it to hundreds of people.The principels outlined in the book are not only the best to help children, they are the best I have found for use with spouses, staff, and anyone you encounter!

find another book
Makes a few accurate observations about boy behavior and its origins,however,the book leans a little too much toward "feminization" of boys in preventing behavioral problems.This may be the politically-correct way to help boys,but not the productive way.The book is also on the new york times best-seller list,this is significant,because that publication is notorious for being the most anti-male biased newspaper in the united states.

Are you raising boys today?
If you are raising boys today I suggest reading this book before they enter the school system! Is he in school and saying things like, "that's gay" or "fag"? Sure he is, we raise them that way and don't even know it.
You don't have to read the whole thing
The author makes some fantastic points in the first hundred or so pages in this book.He then makes those points over and over again until they have lost all meaning.
