4-0 out of 5 stars Debunking the Bush crowd
"Hubris", the fine new book by Michael Isikoff and David Corn, continues a parade of offerings which spell trouble for the Bush administration. Nicely paced and rich in detail, the authors delve deep into the parallel stories of the war in Iraq and the Valerie (Plame) Wilson leaks. "Hubris" is well worth the read.
4-0 out of 5 stars well researched but there's the rest ofthe story
Reading the book makes us aware of the problem but it needs to point to a resolution of the problem.Otherwise it's too depressing. It's like someone yelled 'Fire!' in a crowded theater and that's not right.I'd rather read one of Lyndon LaRouche's books. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Yawn...
While it does contain a few interesting bits here and there (mainly in the first half of the book) this book fails to live up to the buzz surrounding it. There were few actual "insider" details (or details of any kind, in fact) and the author's voice grated on my nerves -- very self-serving. I suppose those interested in U.S. foreign and overseas development policy during the Cold War and post-Cold War era will find it worth reading, but getting through it is something of a chore. It took all my will power to plow through the last quarter of the book...

2-0 out of 5 stars Sadly not the book it's been touted to be
The premise for "Confessions Of An Economic Hitman (COHM)" couldn't be more intriguing and the book did after all sell tons of copies and has remained on most booksellers' recommended reading list for ages. So my expectations were high for John Perkins' blow out confessional, the product of a conscience that struggled with but manfully prevailed against the temptations of a financially lucrative and high flying career as an "economic hit man".
5-0 out of 5 stars enlightening insight into US foreign economic policy
I am so glad I read this book. While it has been critized for relying largely on the testimony of the author, John Perkins' book fits squarely into a lineage of books that are beginning to reveal the United States' plans for "global empire." Like Chomsky, Perkins reveals the actions behind the double-speak and PR-sanitized language that occludes the economic domination that is really going on in the form of "aid," "development," etc.

4-0 out of 5 stars Rat-a-tat-tat.The RWC does drive-by
This book is a RAPID-FIRE series of substantiated indictments of the former First Lady.It seemed like every word was annotated or referenced. There are around 12 "exhibits" and another 8 pages of notes in the back to drive home the message. It's easy to read and stay engaged with this book. One has no doubt as to where the author and book stand on the issue of Mrs. Clinton. The tone of each (short) section consistently frowns on the documented, proven, indisputable, yet ostensibly still "questionable" actions of Mrs. Clinton. You end up shaking your head and wondering how someone could get away with so much. That said, the title is correct in saying that this is a (VWRC-style) dossier. The actions in question are documented and/or explained, then part of the time the author goes an extra step to lambaste the former First Lady or sneer in Mrs. Clinton's general direction.I never said this was Adam Smith...
1-0 out of 5 stars mourn the dead trees
You can find these same arguments in about half a dozen other gratuitously Hillary-bashing right-wingnut diatribes.Of course, those other books are every bit as intellectually bankrupt as this one, so don't waste your time with those either. If you want quotes taken out of context and half-truths posing as revelations, this is the book for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE book to prevent another Clinton Presidency
Carpenter's book is sure to be THE book to save Americans from another Clinton Presidency. It is filled with documents and evidence, and not just rhetoric.

5-0 out of 5 stars Must reading
Who should read this book? Anyone with a conscience and a brain and a beating heart who cares about the United States and its place in the world. Anyone who is frightened about rapidly disappearing concepts like truth, justice and due process. Anyone who understands that our fragile democracy is vitally dependent not only on verifiable elections, but also on a voting public well informed by aggressive, independent, skeptical journalists rather than embedded reporters who regurgitate self-serving, manufactured reality and trade truth for access.

5-0 out of 5 stars Still an Important Alternative Voice That Needs to Be Heard
Unlike the proverbial lone voice in the wilderness, Amy Goodman's is sounded every day on Democracy Now! with a partner, Juan Gonzalez. Even in New York City, Ms. Goodman and Mr. Gonzalez are hardly able to raise their voices above the media trash heap filled by the likes of Rupert Murdoch and Fox News, the increasingly sensationalist CNN (whose kidnapped baby can we bloviate about today?), the disappointingly ineffectual New York Times, the superficial Brian Williams, and everybody's oh-so-cute CBS newcomer, Sally Fields (You like me! You really like me!). Oops, make that last one was Katie Couric. Democracy Now! languishes in NYC, nearly invisible on public access cable every morning at 8:00.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Few More Thoughts (more myth debunking)
Ok, As many have pointed out the book doesn't address the problem of towers falling at near-terminal velocity all the way into their own footprint.
1-0 out of 5 stars Open your eyes people!!!
People....Please..Do you honestly think Popular Mechanics can set straight all that is wrong in the world?Who owns Popular Mechanics?Hearst Publications!Who is Hearst Publications?Do they have any connection to our government or any aspects of the government? Can they be COMPLETELY trusted to give factual, unbiased opinion? There are hundreds of unanswered questions regarding the events that took place on Sept. 11th. yet they think they can dispell them in one book?Let's look at just 2 issues shall we.First of all, World Trade 7.Sorry folks, buildings made of steel and reinforced concrete don't just fall down because a building nearby fell down.Fires or no fires this building absolutely just fell like the footings were just removed instantaneoulsy..Buildings that have been subjected to earthquakes and hurricanes see more violent shaking and yet at least some of the building remains intact if not compltetly intact. This building was demolished by explosive charges placed well in advance of Sept. 11th.Why?We may never know but it obviously was to hide something or to use the event to sway public opinion towards war.Secondly, crashed airplanes leave debris.LOTS OF DEBRIS!!!The crash at the pentagon left no signs of a crashed BOEING 757!First of all, have any of you ever seen a Boeing 757 besides in photos???They are a huge, heavy, loaded with flammable jet-fuel, aircraft. You don't crash a jet of that size anywhere without leaving debris. The hole in the side of the pentagon is NOT big enough to be caused by a Boeing 757 and that is the simple truth!A person could drive themselves crazy with all the information out there but the simple fact remains..NO WRECKAGE..NO PLANE and buildings don't just fall by themselves..I am a republican and I voted for BUSH but this whole situation stinks of a government cover up!Does Bush know anything?Doubtful.I've come to realize the man is a complete idiot.Probably why he was elected in the first place. The people in high places needed a patsy and they found him.You gotta love it!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Knowledge is Power , a MUST READ!
Alot of folks love to criticize Bill Cooper. I personally think he was reporting truths from his experiences & information he got his hands on.He claims right up front that some info may not be accurate. He NEVER claims to be 100% accurate, and gives you his sources for the info, not just opinions. He took a stand to expose secret information he felt the public should know.Whether you agree with him or not, you've got to respect the man. He fought to get this book published & ultimately lost his life holding on to that "stand".It's risk-takers like him that gives us knowledge & information to see hidden truths.Thank you & God Bless you, Bill.Rest in Peace.

This book is not for those who wish to continue living their monotonous and stressful lifestyles. This is meant to make you aware and to further draw your own conclusions.Critical thinkers only!!
3-0 out of 5 stars Interesting read! But don't rely on Google to discount this author!
I just want to say that this book allows you to draw your OWN conclusions from information a man was able to provide andbecause of that..i find this book interesting and a good read.As for his death, all deaths that look suspicious are NEVER suspicious. As for going on Google to find out about the "real" Cooper; let it be said that you need to do alot more research on someone than going to Google to take something as FACT! Google is NOT the most reliable source, it is simply what it is; A SOURCE OF INFORMATION. The book is worth the read. Especially the part of the book that speaks about FEMA; any one heard of LA riots, Katrina? He speaks on FEMA's role very candidly and we can use both these instances as to how true he was in this area of his book. But don't base your knowledge or interest on any of our reviews...read the book for yourself and make your own conclusion of an interesting read, ENJOY! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars STARTACHAIN REACTION !
Barrie Zwicker's carefully researched masterpiece is an eye opener for open-minded people with compassionate hearts and bright reasoning that haven't yet been searching for the truth about 9/11. Barrie Zwicker provides convincing evidence that beyond any reasonable doubt the truth about 9/11 is that we don't KNOW the truth about 9/11. And Barrie Zwicker is definitively right to suggest that it is high time to ask elementary questions about the many anomalies in the official story of 9/11, since the American people and the families of those who died on 9/11 deserve the truth that we do not yet know. Therefore it is undeniable that only a truly independent investigation of 9/11 can provide an answer to the crucial question if there was a wider conspiracy (- if this is the case, those responsible for 9/11 should be indicted for treason and complicity in murder and those who covered up these crimes should themselves be indicted as accessories after the fact. On the other hand, if the new investigation finds that the government's current story is essentially correct it would be imperative to assign responsibility for the inconceivable failure of the air defenses to protect the Twin Towers and the Pentagon, since so far nobody of the allegedly "incompetent" people has been fired or demoted or court martialed - shouldn't there be accountability?).
5-0 out of 5 stars Zwicker, Barrie, Towers of Deception: The Media Cover-up of 9/11.
Five years ago and still in the news? This is because the issues are painful and because there is stillso much suffering arising out of the horrific events of September 11, 2001. Much healing has yet to happen. Conspiracy theorists have had a wonderful time with 9/11: 'The CIA did it,' 'It is Reichstag 9/11,' and so on, but if you speak to many Americans in this vein they still respond with pain and then outrage or simply, rage.

2-0 out of 5 stars Well-reported but not close to the best on Enron
Eichenwald's style might be more easily "accessible," but Bethany McLean's Smartest Guys in the Room is BY FAR the better report of what actually went on at Enron.Buy that one, not Eichenwald's half-baked pretender.

4-0 out of 5 stars As close as we'll ever come to knowing what went on inside Enron
Only those who lived life inside Enron will ever know the true story of what happened that caused the catastrophic corporate debacle.Even amongst Enron insiders, only a handful were in a position to know the truth.Kurt Eichenwald has done a great job in this book of pulling together as many of the sources as he can in order to give those of us on the outside a look at the inside.

Editorial Review

Dallas Willard, an acclaimed theologian and professor of philosophy at the University of Southern California, fulfills the longing of many Christians who want to live as true disciples of Christ rather than distant dabblers. Likewise, he scoffs at consumer Christians who are simply banking on admittance to heaven as their payoff for attending church. Or worse still, those who use Christianity to advance their political agendas rather than their spiritual ones. But this is not a scolding book. Rather, Willard devotes his efforts to discussing specific and inspiring ways to develop a discipleship to Jesus--not as an act of sacrifice or even one of spiritual luxury--instead, as everyday people committed to the teachings of Christ. "The really good news for Christians is that Jesus is now taking students in the master class of life," writes Willard. "So the message of and about him is specifically a gospel for our life now, not just for dying. It is about living now as his apprentices in kingdom living, not just as consumers of his merits." 4-0 out of 5 stars Hidden Gems
This is my second attempt to read a Dallas Willard book. This is my first successful completion of a Dallas Willard book!He has a dense, dry reading style that is difficult to plow through. But I could see as I was reading this book that there were spiritual gems to be found throughout, so I plugged away through it.It took me about six months to finish this 400-page book, but I'm glad I made the effort.(Six months because I had to find times where I was in the right alert, diligent state of mind to read it.) 3-0 out of 5 stars Missing the mark
In this book Dallas Willard presents the life of the Christian as a disciple of Jesus. He attempts to mediate between evangelical and liberal perspectives and provide an approach to the Christian life brings out what both perspectives have missed. While containing occasionally nuggets, this book (from my perspective) misses the mark at several points.
5-0 out of 5 stars Best Book, Bar None, I Have Ever Read
This is a life changing book, not one meant to be a quick read, but rather, one to be read bit by bit, and then mulled over. It brings to life the Sermon on the Mount, explains so very well the kingdom of God and its characteristics. As I read this book, I began to understand God's overall plan for humankind in a new way, and I have begun to live accordingly.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent ... a bit over the fantasy side at the end ...
But nevertheless, if correct, a very worth reading. disturbing... I've been reading a lot over these last months on the UFO topic and this book is paramount lecture. Anyway, there is a conclusion, proposed by Greer and some of the witnesses he interviews, stating the UFOS /ET are good beings and USA govt. is provoking them as they shoot them down, harrass them, etc. I digress ! They cannot have good intentions if they intrude our territory, mutilate our animals, abduct people, etc.I think that in drawing such conclusions the book fails in being objective and with common sense. That is why I give it 4 stars only.

5-0 out of 5 stars Disclosure.....5 stars easy!!
Hard to put down, difficult to condemn, almost impossible to ignore!!...Steven Greer has gone where others haven't had the balls, and placed his reputation on the line to bring the truth out...congratulations!! This is a fantastically researched book covering all facets of the U.F.O. phenomenon and a must read for everyone interested in the TRUTH.Whether or not this will be revealed to us in the near future is another matter, but the fact that extraterrestrial intelligence exists is no longer a question,it's just waiting to be proven en masse.Fantastic reading!!

My life is no longer run by fear. After reading 20-30 conspirator books, I see nothing but some facts with weak links targeted to intelligent people that become an elitist to fight against other elitists. Look at some of the major failures."Population bomb" predicted 1/2 the world starving to death by 1980.Y2K embarrassment.Rapture, baised on liberal and bad Bible theology.Wise people need to spend their time with real people on local problems that are real and fixable.

2-0 out of 5 stars Overly Opinionated
I'll admit that the official story of the events on September 11 are suspect. But that's all I will conclude. The way the story unfolds in the media and the explanations for it all appear to be hiding some evidence. Why? I don't know, and frankly, after reading the author's very slanted view of events, am even less interested to find out. I was interested in reading the facts and evidence that exist, but his whole book was one big conspiracy theory strung together by edited quotes and simplified facts. And his summary about not fighting the Axis of Good was just over the top. Maybe the truth would only hurt us more than we know. Call me naive and ignorant, but I would rather live my life with a "half full" mentality. I enjoy my life and the choices I am able to make in America and since I have not the power to change the unfortunate events of Sept 11, I'll continue to live my humble life and not waste any more time worrying, fearing, and doubting the catastrophic events of that day. What will that accomplish? What I will continue to do is pay respect and remember the 2,000+ lives that were lost - people I didn't know - but sons, daughters, wives, husbands, friends, moms, etc.

2-0 out of 5 stars Painfully Stupid
Eric Hufschmid believes that Bush and Cheney and the entire government were involved in a large conspiracy to take down the WTC towers and building 7, as well as the Pentagon and another target. MLK Jr. said "The hottest place in hell is reserved for those WHO CHOOSE neutrality in times of great moral conflict". Discern that! ... Read more

I thought Dr. Greer did a good job of organizing the various types of evidence supporting Alien interaction with our world. From scientists to engineers and really a complete cross section of our society and its abilities to observe the hidden world of Alien interaction.

I have been searching for the real truth about UFO and ET since my childhood (1970~), so far what I found was a mess and confusion; bad ET, good ET, alien invasion, abduction, mutilation, science fiction movies, etc... you know the rest.
