Better than Emmanuels, but could still use a better index
If you're trying to decide between Emmanuel's outline and the Gilbert one, I suggest always going with Gilbert's.The Gilbert lecture on cassette/CD is good, too.
Solid summary of first year tort topics.
I think Gilbert Law Summaries: Torts is a solid commercial outline.I am glad I spent the money for it.I used the book for my first year torts class.I found the book to be useful as a review resource once I spent time reading/briefing the cases.Buy it and use it as a supplement, not a replacement for class prep and case briefing.
Buy Early, Study Late
This book is not just a study guide for last minute cramming.I recommend you buy it early in the semester and use it as a companion for the entire course (coming from someone who bought it in November and is kicking himself).Reading this book after you have read and briefed your casebook will give you a nice little summary of the topic you're studying.Yes there are outlines.Yes there are practice questions.But this is also a great way to prepare for each class, not just the final. ... A great and sordid tale
This is a greeat and depressing book. I documents how America is a country of many laws and little enforcement. Believe it. That the book was trashed as anti-Semetic in The NY Times Sunday Book Review only makes it a more important read (The dolt Times reviewer reviewer had a tribal agenda and comes from self-admitted mob affiliated tax cheat family should be all you need to know about that review)
HOPING FOR AN UPDATE
This book tells how Sidney Korshak and other mob fronts moved from Chicago to Las Vegas and Southern California in the 1940's.Using such notorious hangouts as the Bistro and City National Bank in Beverly Hills, some of which are still as sinister as ever, they gained influence in unions, business, and politics at the local and even national and international level.

Solid Introduction to Law and Economics
In a sense, this book is quite curious. Because law and economics is a discipline in its infancy, a book of this nature has to tread the fine line between serving as a distanced text and engaging in the dialogue of current research. One-sided approach to regulation
I would have preferred a text that merely reported employers' compliance obligations in an objective manner, rather than portraying employers as the enemy.I generally found the text to be highly politicized and, to some extent, anti-management.This book does little to bridge the gap between the business community and academia.

Employment Law for business
As an attorney, manager, and teacher of human resources professionals, I recommend this book.I found that thie information was thoroughly researched. I also appreciated that the legal information was presented in a business context so that managers who are not lawyers could understand the information andreadily appy it to real life workplace problems.

Blum is the Contracts Master
This is the best study aid I had in my first year.Blum's E&E helped me understand concepts as they came up, and was perfect for outlining at the end of the term.Buy it - you won't regret it!!

Good, but I wasn't thrilled
Good book, but perhaps not the best for my course. I initially bought Gilberts and this book. Then I tried to order a different used study aid online and the seller sent me Emanuel's on Contracts, which ended up being the best study aid for Contracts, I thought. Back to the E&E: this book gives a good overview and a clear explanation. The Examples and Explanations are pretty good. However, I agree with the reviewer above that Blum is too vague in the Explanations. Just give us the answer (whether "yes," "no," or "could go either way")! I also have another complaint about the Explanations -- they're way too damn long! Get to the point! I sat there for 10 minutes reading a 4 page Explanation. It's ridiculous. I felt like I was reading High Court case briefs when I was reading the Explanations. I do like the fact that there are Examples that you can work, but Emanuels has Questions following each chapter as well that are more concise and to the point.

Excellent text for the Instructor; for the Student
This is an excellent text at various levels of interest, desire, talent and time. The text is arranged that given the time, the Instructor can dig deeper and deeper into thorny topics. Additionally, curious students can rely on numerous web sources for enhanced views and greater depth.
Not Only For Students
I am using this textbook in several of my classes, and let me just say- it has everything I could have hoped for. The chapters are laid out well, many cases are cited, and the student is given actual cases to figure out, with the citations given at the end so he can find the actual outcome. I've found this to be among the best textbooks. It is so good, in fact that I've reccomended it to several of my friends who are going into business for themselves. This covers nearly everything they'll need to know regarding contracts, secured transactions, warranties, etc.Read more

The Surveyor's Bible
While preparing for my licensing exam, I read this book from cover to cover. It addresses every principle of retracement (sequential and simultaneous conveyances), public lands, and riparian issues thoroughly. The highlighted "principle" at the heading of each new topic makes remembering the main points simple. I can honestly say that every question on the NCEES exam that dealt with general principles and practice was answered in this book. I passed on my first sitting, and this book was one of the main reasons why. If you can only study one reference, this is it. Every practicing surveyor should also refer to it regularly.

Boundary Control and Legal Principals
This is the definitive work on boundary control. Technicians preparing for the SIT and PLS tests should own this book.

Decent, but rather uneven coverage for an intro text.
One benefit of this book is that it contains articles, commentary, and discussion questions all in one text.It also covers a wide variety of issues, which is good since business ethics is a vast subject.On the negative side, I don't think the organization of the sections is the most effective way to approach the topic.The sections are organized based on a 1991 survey of CEOs in which the participants ranked their most important types of ethical dilemmas. As a result, there isn't the logical flow or progression of ideas from chapter to chapter that one might expect from a philosophy book. Unfortunately, the pragmatic interests of CEOs are not the same as the educational needs of students who are new to business ethics.There is also no discussion of ethical theories and no direct interaction between the articles. On the whole, this book may be beneficial if used in conjunction with a survey of ethical theories and ethical decision-making, but taken by itself it makes for a rather uneven introduction to business ethics. ... good but a little overrated - should be 3 and 1/2 stars
Okay, at one time (in earlier editions) this was a great book, but it has become outdated.It is still good, but it is not the best.I gave it 4 stars, but I would really have given it a 3.5 if that had been an option.
Good book, but a little dated and choppy
I bought this book before starting up my new law practice because it's one of really only two good books on opening a law office, and this one seemed to have the most praise.
It was all that I expected it to be.
The book arrived on time, infact a day earlier than I anticipated. It was in excellent shape, cover crisp and shiny and didn't seem like it had been used at all. Surprisingly, it was delivered right outside my apartment door. I have purchased other books through amazon before, but none were personally delivered to me.Out of all the purchases through amazon, this exceeds all in quality for my money and efficiency in delivery. ... Excellent Guide to the Codes.
Being an architecture student, this book, and others by Frank Ching, are more than helpful. It really clarifies the IBC and makes design for studio projects go a lot quicker. Definitely get this book if you're studying architecture.

Excellent Supplement
I just finished my Contracts final, but I will not blame my grade on this book.
Excellent Aid!
The charts in this book are what makes it so effective and helpful.Once again Gilbert's has provided law students with a great teaching aid and exam study guide.The questions in the back are very good, but beware 1L's in your first semester not having all of the information necessary to fully answer the questions.
