Criminal Law
I thought this book was very useful in the study of Criminal Law at the undergraduate level. I enjoyed the author's selection of cases and thought that they were edited well so that they remained readable.

Excellent Text
As one of Professor Samaha's students, I found that using this particular text in corrolation with his lectures was extremely benefical in learning the basics of criminal law.His personal insight on the case studies undoubtedly aided in understanding the material, but I suspect that the text would not have stuck me as such an outstanding book had Professor Samaha not been there to add additional information on each aspect of his work.However, even without the personal commentary, the text is still a very clear and concise resource that would be excellent for an introductory course on criminal law. ... Fantastic book - Recommended for anyone serious about good grades
I read this book right after trying to apply IRAC to my first midterm and doing horribly. After reading the first 50 pages I knew exactly what I did wrong and how I could have handled the question differently. I recommend also doing LEEWS as both methods are similar in that they teach you how to answer legal questions from both sides and arrive at a thoughtful response

Excellent book
I bought this book prior to beginning law school on the advice of the summer reading list.Although I haven't gotten through even my first semester, already what I have read has really made things in class seem clearer and I feel much more confident for the exam.I wholly recommend it.

A very useful book - whether you go to law school or not
I was seriously considering applying to the law school last summer, and this book was one of those that I purchased to read along with LSAT prep books. The book had specific cases lined up in order from easy ones to more complicated, and it hasquestions of the end of each chapter, so that you can test yourself and your udnerstanding of material and how it applies in the courtroom. Also, I liked the sense of humor of the author; it was very encoureging in the beginning, and then kept peeking throught the book.
Buy this if you want to waste your time
All of the E&E books I have read, especially this one, are disappointing. I guess they can be helpful if you haven't been attending class and need to learn the material for the first time. But I'm not sure why a student who has kept up in class would waste time with such a vague and introductory study guide. I recommend a more advanced, detailed and concise study guide. Also, the Q&As at the end of the chapters are too verbose for what they cover. Most of the answers are pages long, when they should be at most a few paragraphs, if not a few sentences.

If you are struggling in Civil Procedure, buy this book.
Personally, I found Civil Procedure was the most difficult class in my first year of law school.I purchases several secondary sources but none were as helpful as Glannon's book.Glannon's book teaches by taking its reader through series of exercises that start with the basics then build into complex problems.Each problem comes with well written, complete, and comprehendible answers.The book uses helpful diagrams for explaining confusing topics such as the sometimes-confusing relationship between subject matter jurisdiction, person jurisdiction, and venue. ... Great corrections book
I've taught college-level corrections courses for quite a few years now and have kicked around a number of different corrections texts.This new edition is definitely an improvement over previous ones--it's much heavier on the recent empirical research, which helps me to keep my students "on track" with what the actual research indicates regarding a number of correctional topics.
Review of American Corrections, 7th Edition
Clear, Cole, & Reisig present a thorough overview of classic and historical correctional philosophy that is strongly tied to their discussion of more contemporary issues.Each revision includes the most up to date, critically acclaimed research from top criminology journals. Additionally, they regularly cite the best government sources (such as the Bureau of Justice Statistics and the Federal Bureau of Prisons) to support various claims. In sum, this is a fair and balanced approach to all of the important issues facing corrections. I have taught Corrections for many years, and would not consider using a book other than American Corrections.

Worst Criminal Justice Textbook I've ever read
The name of this book should be 'The Overly-Liberal, Bleeding-Heart View of Corrections'.This was by far the worst criminal justice textbook that I have ever read.I expect textbooks for classes to give the facts and be somewhat unbiased.This book gave a VERY one-sided view which portrayed anyone that is convicted of a crime to be the actual victim; all the way from investigation to parole.This view would have been fine if it had been countered with the other side as well.I was very disappointed.I read it from from front to cover, and it was brutal.This should be a book on opinion, instead of a textbook. ... Don't rely on this book for an online course
This book is filled with information but is not easy to follow. The ethical questions do not provide answers which leave you wondering if your own conclusions are accurate. The format tries to cover too much information without going in debth about anything.I used this book for an online accounting class and it was of very little help to me.This truly was one of the worst text books I've ever used.

EXCELLENT INTRODUCTION
Relatively up to date (September 11 and law enforcement reactions, USA PATRIOT Act, etc.), and very informative, this textbook provides an excellent survey of the Criminal Justice System.The prose is streamlined, clear, and somewhat non-biased.Minor corrections may need to be made (e.g. the textbook states that the majority of female sexual assault victims do not know their attacker. . .), but these flaws are minor for a textbook of this scope.The book is extensively source documented, making it perfect for anyone interested in expanding their knowledge of the Criminal Justice System.The CD-ROM and online tools are comprehensive, and give the reader/student a more intimate view of the author's vision.

criminal investigation book
This subject is very interesting and the book go along with it well. The book is very interesting and is not boring to read. It has a lot of detailed pictures and information that goes along with it. Plus the reading is enertaining.This overall is a very good book!

Just the book I was looking for
I bought this book because I'm interested in series on discovery such as: Forensic Detectives, Medical Detectives and The Fbi Files. This book describes everything(see table of contents) in detail, from the history of crime investigation till gunshots etc. After almost every subject, the book givesreal life examples and pictures. The best in a long line of boring criminal justice books!!!

Read the title: "STUDY GUIDE"
What a useless study guide.All this does is reprint the chapter summary and removes a few words and asks you to fill in the blanks. Do not, repeat, NOT, waste your money on this.

One of my favorite study aids
I love these Examples & Explanations books.The rules make sense when you can get decent examples, and these books do a good job of that.
Great book
Great book. Definitely doesn't cover every area of Torts that you're going to need to know for your course (IIED, false imprisonment, etc.). Get Gilberts or Emanuels or just use your class notes on this stuff though. Also: if your professor has a slightly different view on the rules (even if it's just a difference in semantics) use your prof's rules when working the Examples. Writing out your answers to the Examples throughout the semester will solidify your knowledge and you won't have to struggle to memorize the elements of each rule at the end of the semester.

BE CAREFUL WHICH EDITION YOU BUY!
The book is great as it is, no doubt, but the older editions do not have Products Liability in them, which is VITAL to your studies. Make sure you get the latest edition, which has two chapters on PL.

Review of Law in Medicine
Pozgar's book is organized by legal topic and cites relevant case law in all instances.It is an excellent overview of American law as it applies to the health care practitioner or organization.He has taken a topic thatit difficult to communicate and made it very enjoyable reading.Studentswill find it much easier reading than most graduate level texts.

Better than Emmanuels, but could still use a better index
If you're trying to decide between Emmanuel's outline and the Gilbert one, I suggest always going with Gilbert's.The Gilbert lecture on cassette/CD is good, too.
Solid summary of first year tort topics.
I think Gilbert Law Summaries: Torts is a solid commercial outline.I am glad I spent the money for it.I used the book for my first year torts class.I found the book to be useful as a review resource once I spent time reading/briefing the cases.Buy it and use it as a supplement, not a replacement for class prep and case briefing.
Buy Early, Study Late
This book is not just a study guide for last minute cramming.I recommend you buy it early in the semester and use it as a companion for the entire course (coming from someone who bought it in November and is kicking himself).Reading this book after you have read and briefed your casebook will give you a nice little summary of the topic you're studying.Yes there are outlines.Yes there are practice questions.But this is also a great way to prepare for each class, not just the final. ...
