Me to We was a great addition to my book shelf although it won't spend much time there. This is one of those books that I will pass on to others.
5-0 out of 5 stars A selfless "self-help" book...that actually works
I couldn't put it down. This book has everything you need to improve your life and the lives of the people around you. I've read other self-help books but they were never very helpful. After reading this one I was completely inspired. Last night I signed up to volunteer in my community! From now on I am definitely going to live from me to we.

5-0 out of 5 stars Intriguing Book!
Since all actions are preceded by thoughts, Don Miguel Ruiz explores, quite eloquently, why every dream has a significant impact upon our actions. I recommend this book for anyone with a vision.

1-0 out of 5 stars busy, wordy and uninspiring
I got this book for my foster teens but tossed it in the recycling bin instead. The book is full of chatter; the authors never get to the point.Plus all the illustrations, boxes and fonts, which I guess are supposed to be hip, give you a headache. I did plog through this quagmire long enough to confirm the authors weren't saying anything that would inspire a kid, so it's just as well they slathered it with window dressing. The book dies have a catchy cover, which I assume is designed to attract parents, not kids.Heck, I bought it.

4-0 out of 5 stars bit much for my 12 year old
My 12 year old got bored with it, she's probably too young for this book.I am hoping she will pick it up in a year or so. I thought it was interesting and usefull.

4-0 out of 5 stars The 7 HABITS of Highly Effective TEENS
This book: The 7 HABITS of Highly Effective TEENS, included many wonderful/helpful ideas, wich i used and enjoyed on my own. This book is what i call a guidance book. That helps in my eyes young teens who have problems in highly effective areas. This book basically shows you how to develope good habbits, it makes you become a better person, working on your personality and bad habits. the author gave you his fathers seven habbits to success in all parts of life. The author Sean Covey, put it in a fun and easy way to understand the point of this wonderful book. This book was actually a slight help to both me and my mother. I learned to work things out with her, and agree on things easier.

Editorial Review

"One of the most salient features of our culture is that there is so much bullshit," Harry G. Frankfurt writes, in what must surely be the most eyebrow-raising opener in modern philosophical prose. "Everyone knows this. Each of us contributes his share. But we tend to take the situation for granted." This compact little book, as pungent as the phenomenon it explores, attempts to articulate a theory of this contemporary scourge--what it is, what it does, and why there's so much of it. The result is entertaining and enlightening in almost equal measure. It can't be denied; part of the book's charm is the puerile pleasure of reading classic academic discourse punctuated at regular intervals by the word "bullshit." More pertinent is Frankfurt's focus on intentions--the Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Tongue -in-Cheek look at a Serious Subject
Horsefeathers, Hogwash, Balderdash do not carry the same weight as the title.Franfurt looks at the the subject and tries to explain what we mean by this term.It is both a serious look at the subject and at the same time it is tongue-in-cheek.Frankfurt explains the words place in our society and it is very funny the entire time without reaching to be funny. We all know what the word means without having it explained and yet, trying to explain it is very hard.Frankfurt explains the place this word has in society and why the other words don't quite measure up.The book is both a philosophical and comedic read.Frankfurt tells the reader this up front without ever explaining it outright. It is both very short and easy to read. One sitting, but it is very profound and that is the mark of a great book.Highly Reccommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Telling it Like it is
A tremendously artful (if very short) book, this is a republishing of a paper written in 1986. It not only is about BS, it is BS itself. It not only describes but exemplifies.

5-0 out of 5 stars Choices
This is a fascinating, entertaining, short read about a group of travellers who take a bus excursion from hell into a place where they are given a chance to go into heaven. Surprisingly, they actually seem to prefer hell. This is not a book about what heaven is like or what hell is like. It's about people like us, and our choices, and how they affect our lives as eternal beings.
5-0 out of 5 stars Bus Ride through Eternity
Admittedly, I have a certain degree of difficulty decoding C.S. Lewis's brand of science fiction/Christian fiction. It is not so much that I can not appreciate his writing as that I have trouble picturing the fantastic concepts that Lewis paints. This being said, I was able to take quite a lot from this book.
5-0 out of 5 stars A masterpiece
I think this is one of Lewis' very best. He attempts in this work to paint a picture of heaven and hell based on his understanding on Christian theology; and what a picture it turns out to be! I found myself captivated from the beginning with the author's depiction of the confines of hell and its inhabitants, which then become a perfect foil for the soul-lifting glory of heaven that he goes on to describe. What makes the work so powerful is the believability of the picture that is painted, despite its speculative nature and imaginative leaps.

1-0 out of 5 stars Misery in Print
Brian McLaren has no business writing a book about the message of Jesus, nevermind one that claims to reveal a 'secret message.' McLaren is not a theologian and not a historian. He shows no familiarity with Biblical languages, no familiarity of the secondary sources outside of the NT which would bring clarity to the context of the life of Christ, and no familiarity with the history of Gospel theology or criticism.
5-0 out of 5 stars Have Christians everywhere misunderstood Jesus' message?
Have Christians everywhere misunderstood Jesus' message? 3-0 out of 5 stars Mediocre
McLaren's book is just a mediocre attempt to understand the message of Jesus and its implications for today. Surely, McLaren is right to put emphasis on Jesus' message of the kingdom of God. Some of the contours of this aspect of Jesus' teaching have been all too often neglected by fundamentalists and evangelicals.

1-0 out of 5 stars Buy a book on probability instead
This book is mostly built around the idea "I wish it were true = it *is* true".While this book has innate appeal to those looking for meaning in their lives, if you're looking for a firm foundation for understanding coincidences in your life (i.e. intellectual integrity), you'd be better off buying an introduction to probability.

4-0 out of 5 stars Everything Happens For A Reason
I enjoyed this quick read.I did skip over a few chapters that I didn't feel were pertinent to me, but still really enjoyed this book.If you are looking to see if you are on the right path in life, read God Winks. And then, start paying attention, you'll be surprised at what comes to mind!

5-0 out of 5 stars Thoroughly enjoyable
This was an enjoyable book from the first page to the last.We all have moments of coincidence and this book puts into perspective that these moments do not "just happen"...putting the focus on God. I love the imagery of God "winking" at such a moment as if to say, "Hey there kid, I'm thinking about you right now."Now whenever a coincidence happens in my life, I find myself winking back to say, "Thank You, God...I'm thinking about You right now, too!"Very well written.Hats off to SQuire Rushnell for an exceptionally good book! ... Editorial Review

"Learning the game of power requires a certain way of looking at the world, a shifting of perspective," writes Robert Greene. Mastery of one's emotions and the arts of deception and indirection are, he goes on to assert, essential. The 48 laws outlined in this book "have a simple premise: certain actions always increase one's power ... while others decrease it and even ruin us."Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Nuclear Weapon for the Modern Warrior
This book is LOADED with wisdom. The lessons you will learn here can help you to take your life to the next level and then the level beyond that one.Study this book and its Laws, and do not be afraid or too timid to adopt their teachings into your everyday experiences -- they will help you to get ahead, to get what you want, and to reach your goals.

5-0 out of 5 stars Terrific synopsis of the classic historical writings on power.
This book is a no holds barred open discussion of raw power, entertainingly presented. It took me a little while to get over the almost completely amoral tone of the book, but I eventually got the sense that the amoral tone is there for a purpose: to clue you in to the fact that people who practice power at this level can often be completely amoral themselves. In that sense, the book truly gives the reader a sense of the mindset of those who will do anything to stay in power. There is a sense as one reviewer pointed out, that the book could have been written without this amoral tone, but then one would miss out on the opportunity of being immersed in its sense of amorality, which is an education in itself.Experiencing the amorality is a wakeup call that offers insight into how some of the world's ills have come to pass, though you may find yourself wanting to shower afterward. After reading it, you will definitely be more aware of the laws being played out on the world stage, and you will begin to recognize people in government who seem to be using it as a playbook. Some laws are even applicable in personal relationships...a scary thought.
3-0 out of 5 stars Another product of the imagination
If you have wild dreams of pontifical success.Illusions of grandeur and great lusts for power, then this book may feed your ego.It may even make you feel real good about yourself.Knowing all these secrets of power. But alas, it is only a fantasy.

5-0 out of 5 stars If you are entangled...
Excellent book that revisits a message told many a times about taking things easy and appreciating what you have in life.
4-0 out of 5 stars It helps you cope or to make the appropriate changes if you can't cope
We all live, but as is mentioned in this book, "if you win the rat race, you're still a rat." The key is to be in the race, but take time to do other things that have greater meaning than the numbers used to keep a monetary score. In other words, win the rat race by becoming more than a rat that is focused only on the finish line and not on the scenery encountered along the way.

When Darwin discovered natural selection, he was quick and remarkably insightful as to how this might affect our understanding of our own species, Homo sapiens. Alfred Russel Wallace, the impressive co-discover of the theory, never agreed to its application to humans. He considered our mental faculties far too advanced to be accounted for by the same forces that gave rise to pond scum and even chimpanzees. The debate continues to this very day, and will not be resolved in the forseeable future.

5-0 out of 5 stars moving in the spiral
Spiral Dynamics is an elegant view of evolving value systems in individuals and cultures which help us to see our own filters as we attempt to meet people where they are. It is not about stereotyping, although certain "memes" will bristle that it could be....the intention ofDr. Beckin carrying on the work of Clare Graves, is to use this information to work beneath the surface of major social issues, to untangle obstacles to positive change by tracking the symptoms back to the source where the belief systems at work operate...so they can be addressed in a way that will resonate and increase the chance for movement in the spiral.....which effects us all since we are all connected. There are endless possibilities for using this system....having an understanding of this expanded perspective will serve to broaden our own.

This book came to my attention through reading Ken Wilber's books. For all interested in his All-Quadrants-All-Levels model the information offered in Spiral Dynamics is fundamental to map the levels presented in Wilber's 4 Quadrants model. This book also has much practical information useful for teachers, psychologists, business coachers, social assistants, managers and anyone that deals with group dynamics [In other words: everyone, because all of us interact in several groups in our lifetime].There

As little children we know how to live in the moment and be completely authentic. But then something damaging happens to us, according to author Don Miguel Ruiz: we are given "knowledge" about how to live in the world. Parents tell us how to behave in order to be a "good" boy or girl. Teachers tell us what it takes to be a "winner" or a "successful" adult. 4-0 out of 5 stars Learn to conquer your inner critic and find your authentic self
Don Miguel Ruiz has a knack for taking complex concepts and simplifying them into basic principles that are easy to digest. In "The Voice of Knowledge", he describes how, as we move from childhood through adolescence and into adulthood, we gradually accumulate unconscious filters through which we interpret everything and everyone we encounter in life. Those filters -- or lies, as he calls them -- color our perceptions, not only about others but about ourselves. We bury our authentic self in layers of interference and succumb to our "inner voice", the critic who convinces us we are not enough. As a result, we feel inadequate, but more importantly, we lose our sense of connection with the Infinite.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent and concise
Much of the teachings of Miguel Ruiz is put into a clear, understandable and absorbable form. There is a sense of empowerment that radiates from these simple concepts and this book has become an often read addition to my readings of the spirit and guidance of these principles that can add so much to living a life well lived.

5-0 out of 5 stars You can be happy no matter what
I feel so grateful to have studied with Miguel and his mother many years ago. My life was totally transformed. His love and wisdom comes through so clearly in this book. If you apply these words to your life you truly can be happy no matter what is going on around you and magic and miracles can become a way of life.

Editorial Review

In order to call themselves good Christians, many people have drawn overly flexible boundaries (unwilling to say no, always accommodating others' needs) or overly rigid boundaries (to the point of being righteous and judgmental). Psychologists and inspirational speakers Cloud and Townsend show readers how to set reasonable boundaries in order to follow the true path of Christianity. This book has become immensely popular, most likely because it makes personal boundaries easier to define and is filled with spiritual purpose. Some cautions: the format can be overly self-helpish for such a complex discussion and the authors at one point imply that judicious spankings may be an acceptable form of setting boundaries with children. However, many Christians will probably find themselves grateful for this biblical context of boundaries. Read more

Miniature edition. Not until you get to the book size at the bottom of the page is there any indication that this IS NOT the complete Boundaries book.Yes, I'm angry--I didn't get what I ordered!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Total Farce
When I ordered this book I was led to believe it was based on the science of mental health. What I found was that it was a book on Christian values, Bible verses, and virtual preaching. Instead of sound psychological protocol I was given Bible classes. I am not anti-Christian, or anti-religion, but I don't expect to buy a book on psychology only to find it is about two men's religious values. I returned this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!
My husband and I read this book and it really cleared up a lot of issues for us! We still refer back to it sometimes!

Editorial Review

Even at his most irate, Jimmy Carter projects cool, communicating with a poise that commands attention while gently signaling to opponents that they better do their homework before mounting any sort of debate. Perhaps that's why the former president, Nobel Peace Prize-winner, and bestselling author ranks as one of the planet's most respected voices in the areas of human rights, diplomacy, and good government. And when a clearly agitated Carter suggests America is on a slippery slope, globally speaking, as he does throughout Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars A bit disappointing
Even though I am biased towards Jimmy, I was a little disappointed by this book. While some sections are very succinct and Jimmy is clearly writing from the heart, for $15 one would expect a little more analysis and explanation of the major issues of the day.

5-0 out of 5 stars An important book for our times
I bought this book from the UK amazon under the title Faith & Freedom. It is an eye-opening account of how religious fundamentalists have managed to leave the impact of their worst attitudes of intolerance, self-righteousness, and belligerence on American domestic and foreign politics, something that concerns me as a UK citizen, because that which significantly affects the most powerful country on the planet is liable to have repercussions elsewhere. But after its eye-opening, soberingcontent, the book ends with a more gracious tone, encouraging Americans to return to a renewed commitment towards their own best ideals in a way that is reflected in the country's dealings with the rest of the world. May this happen, else America's reputation could undergo irreversible damage. Hopefully this excellent book will exert a wide and good influence. Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars An accurate, honest and true account of the state of our country.
Absolutely the best non-fiction book-on-dvd I've ever listened to. President Carter gives an accurate and honest account of the political, social and physical changes currently dividing the American society under this current administration. I remember as a young girl hearing a White House biographer say that it would be years after President Carter's administration that we would appreciate his intelligence and the contributions he made to peace and the strength of the nation. I think this book brings that prediction to fruition. What a shame that we don't have a leader who cares about the future of the country and the people's well being.
